Kevin Stayner (not the German porn star) & Kevin B (no relation
to Jazzy B) met in sleepy Somerset and bonded over a shared love of
slapstick comedy, food and arguing. Following a short time at her
majesty’s pleasure for vandalising a chocolate vending machine and a lost weekend
that lasted ten years they rekindled their dubious friendship and began to write comedy.
2009’s Fringe will be Ham Yard Tourists’ third Edinburgh
and they are relishing the thought of three weeks under each others’ feet.
More than just a double act, they are such close friends they even
read each others diaries, well, B reads Stayner’s....aloud on stage....but to be
fair, B is still struggling with joined up writing and besides he lost all his possessions
in a mysterious caravan fire.
This year Ham Yard Tourists will be embodying the true spirit of the
fringe by inviting you into their home, albeit a home that looks remarkably like a room
above a pub, complete with a centrepiece that bears a stunning resemblance to a ladies
toilet. This will be the ultimate house party, assuming your idea of a party consists of
quick-fire gags, banter, slapstick, music, dancing and savoury snacks. Whose doesn't?
