A crime writer, an ocean rower and a cricketing
student come together for an hour of free stand-up comedy.
Performing to
five drunks at a pub near Newbury might not be the ideal launch-pad for an Edinburgh show,
but thats how the seeds of The Lunchbox Files were sown.
Jane Hill, Rob Coleman
and Jonathan Elston met when they were all on the line-up at a comedy night in Thatcham
late last year. And now theyre back
together on the Fringe to tell jokes about life, love and lunch.
Its a strange but
exciting combination. Although all three are
talented new comedians, two are in their forties and one is barely out of his teens. Between them, they have performed well over three
hundred gigs, and all of them combine comedy with unlikely other lives.
Jane, 44, is a former
radio boss who is now a successful crime writer with three novels to her name. Rob, 43, is a politician turned marathon runner and
attempted ocean rower. Jonathan, 20, is a
history and politics student and university cricket captain who has done charity work in Africa.
Each of the three brings
their own unique style of stand-up to The
Lunchbox Files. Janes deceptively
charming humour has seen her reach the semi-finals of the Laughing Horse New Act
competition two years in a row. Robs
literate eccentricity is earning acclaim on the London comedy scene. Jonathans sharp yet endearing
quick-wittedness means hes one of the busiest young comedians in Britain. |
