DIET! Is a newly devised one woman comedy about
the struggles people go through when trying to lose weight and general attitudes to food.
The main inspiration for this piece was a
photograph Mills took of her mother, who has continually been on a diet as long as she can
remember, sat at a table covered in “bad” food simply reading a dieting magazine
and eating a slice of carrot, however the powerful feature of this photograph is the word
DIET! written across the front of the table in mayonnaise (full fat).
From this she began to find herself talking to
food and using extensive research to find the ins and outs of what really makes a pickled
onion (among other fellow foods) tick so she can speak for them on her table cloth.
Mills has also gone on extensive personal research by going on, not one but, four
fad diets the diaries from these have been used to not only publicise DIET! but also to
help her devise her piece with a more honest voice. These are available from

Lois Mills is a comedian from Yorkshire (East
side) but now lives in London. After graduating from Bretton Hall college in 2007 she has
been writing and performing her own character comedy in pubs around Hull and London, and
is ecstatic about using her funny face for an hour at a time.
