The Rascal Collective are bringing a destructive madness to the Brighton Fringe. Their new show, “Cavid and The Beast” sets out to create a comedic dialogue with current events . Cavid and The Beast premiers at this year’s Brighton Fringe Festival (May 6th – June 5th 2016).
The Rascal Collective is a free-form group of actors, writers and devisers coming together to form a creative response to the current political climate. The massive increases in income equality and the condensing of wealth to the top 1%, coupled with the demonising of the poor and the kleptocractic ethos of neo-liberal economics have provided rich stimulus for our creative, anarchic spirit.
Cavid and The Beast utilises a classic comedic structure to tell the story of two young lovers struggling to make their way in a world warped by greed and amorality. Inspired by real-life events, The Rascal Collective use a combination of physical theatre, farce, grotesque parody and Brechtian alienation to create an exciting romp that encourages the audience to question the integrity of our current society, while laughing heartily at our own stupidity.
