Although assigned the name ‘Catriona MacLeod’ at birth, I sing and write cabaret shows under the name Cat Loud, the easily-pronounceable syllables that make it altogether easier to yell out the windows of passing cars.
My shows, inspired by the likes of Bette Midler, Lady Rizo and Camille O'Sullivan, blend intimate storytelling and song. It sits somewhere between cabaret and gig-theatre.
When I’m just singing, I work with a variety of musicians on jazz and blues standards, and some unique covers of personal favourites.
My first solo cabaret show, Cat Loud’s Big Night In, premièred at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2015 to five-star reviews, and subsequently toured the UK.
My second show, Cat Loud’s Wayward Girls debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2016, accompanied by members of award-winning collective The Blueswater. It transferred to VAULT Festival in January 2017 under the new and improved name WAYWARD. Always evolving, I performed versions of this show at the Brighton Spiegeltent in May, again at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2017.
To the End of the World! is a new show premiering at VAULT Festival in 2018.
