Tom Paine is a well-educated and likeable yet jaded and cynical 40 something.
Tom only started performing stand-up in late 2010 but progressed quickly to 10-15 spots and is performing in Edinburgh this summer as a new act.
Tom has performed at the Frog and Bucket (gong), The Gatehouse (Manchester), Laughing Horse and Mirth Control venues, Comedy Store (gong) and is a regular at Laughter at the Lounge in Warrington and The Hope Inn (Stockport) amongst others.
Tom has played to crowds of 2 - 250 with equal vim and vigour and is not phased by size of venue or audience.
Tom is doing a number of paid opening and middle spots as well as open mic spots in good venues (Mirth Control, Laughing Horse etc.) with professional comedians.
A new act but with the wisdom of age behind him and more material than John Lewis" soft furnishing department.
Tom is a prolific writer and is able to customise his set for a particular locality, group or venue. His perceptual timing is rather good.
All original material and none of it racist, sexist or homophobic although families and the elderly do get a bit of a rough time. As does Combat Man. But not in a racist way.
Tom is happy to travel and to drive other comedians to venues and is available at short notice for local gigs. No geographical limits providing a few days" notice given.
Tom Paine is nothing like Michael MacIntyre or Russell Howard and welcomes the fact that he will never be as rich, influential or popular.
Or as funny.
