American comedian Randy Wilson, originally from Fort Worth in Texas, served in the US Navy for 16 years as a supply stores officer. After that he set up a smoked meats company in Cornwall to supply American bases throughout Europe - it had to close in 1997 as a result of defence budget cuts and the BSE crisis.
A year earlier Wilson had performed his first open spot as a stand-up at the Fez Club in Bath. In 1998 he moved to London. Progress, he says, has been fairly slow, but he"s now appearing with some regularity in the London clubs - you can catch him in the next few days at Laughing Horse Too (Fri), the Purple Turtle (Mon) and Guffaw at the Dragon and Corks Wine Bar (both on Tue). He"ll play a bit of trumpet too.
