Sarah Bennetto

BennettoSarah Bennetto is a stand-up comic from Melbourne, Australia, now living and performing in the UK. She has performed on stage, radio and television as a stand-up comic and presenter, and is responsible for experimental comedy collective Storytellers" Club. Back in 2002, Sarah won a Victorian heat of Australia"s national comedy search, Raw Comedy, and also had her own regular show for Laugh Radio. She was an original member of Melbourne"s hit impro troupe, The Crew, and their weekly show Impro Sundae. At that time, live recordings of Sarah"s comedy were commissioned by the Austereo Network, to be broadcast on national stations including Triple M and FoxFM. Since living in London, she"s appeared on Xfm, Festival FM, Vox Radio, BBC 6 Music, and also moonlights as a indie DJ and freelance music journalist. Sarah performed as part of the Edinburgh Fringe (2002 & 2003 & 2005 & 2007) and Melbourne Comedy Festivals. Her appearances in 2005"s Amused Moose Hot Starlets at The Pleasance, Edinburgh and later London"s Bloomsbury Theatre received positive reviews, tipping her for an exciting future as a writer and performer. She appeared on ITV"s Take The Mic and has acted in numerous comedy friends" films, including projects by Tim Vine, Dominic Frisby, Wil Hodgson and Martin Gooch. For three years, Sarah hosted an interactive music TV show on Sky"s Soundtrack Channel. This garnered her a cult following of weird and wonderful night owls. The phenomenon inspired a series of live segments with Christian O"Connell on London"s Xfm. Sarah more recently co-presented with Stephen Merchant on his BBC 6 Music show, and has performed to a packed comedy pavilion at the picturesque End of the Road Festival since it began in 2006. Earlier that year, Sarah started a new comedy phenomenon called Storytellers" Club. This monthly club is a haven for literate, friendly, lo-fi comedy - which has since transferred to great acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe. "But the undeniable star of the show is the scintillating storyteller who is our hostess, narrator and raconteur, Sarah Bennetto. Her stories and anecdotes are particularly funny (ask her about the time her father tried to pimp her for some more land)." - Broadway Baby"Her amusing anecdotes highlighted the importance of locking toilet doors, and why quiche and misogyny are inextricably linked." - Three Weeks"Feisty" -Time Out, London
