Paul Dennis is a man on a mission. Since his return to standup in 2019, he has attracted the attention of promoters all over the country as he builds his new festival show for 2020.
Almost Blunted Purpose started as an idea intended for the 2013 festival year but a personal tragedy forced him out of comedy. Returning now with a vengeance, Paul's purpose has never been keener. With Brighton and Edinburgh already on the itinerary, this promises to be a big year.
Paul first began standup in 1999, spending a year on the London circuit before his day job led him to NYC. There he progressed quickly and was soon performing regularly at New York Comedy Club. He was also selected from 600 applicants to perform at the world famous Comic Strip. While in the US he also performed at the LA Improv during the Wired For Laughs festivals of 2000 and 2001.
The aftermath of 9/11 drove him back home to start again, where he became a regular MC and opener before taking his first show to Edinburgh in 2011.
In 2011 and 2012, Paul’s Edinburgh shows earned 4-star reviews.
