Maxine has featured on BBC Radio 4, RTE Arena and in the Irish Times and Independent.
As a 58-year-old female comic, she is a bit of a surprise.
‘That can work to my advantage,’ says Maxine.
‘My sons, in their 20s, are mortified that I do comedy. But I’ve long rebelled against them.'
Her first Edinburgh show in 2013, Embarrassing Mother, was well received and toured Ireland and the UK. Her 2014 show Invisible Woman also attracted full rooms and is currently touring.
The UK comedy website Chortle lists Maxine in the top ten ‘feminist fatales’. Entertainment.ie calls her ‘outstandingly funny.’
Touring dates include the Leicester Square Theatre London, Palace Theatre Redditch, Old Firestation Oxford, Rondo Bath, as well as several festivals.
Review from Brighton: How scary to stand up and “do” comedy? Very - Maxine Jones at the Other Place in Brighton wasn’t scared at all. At first she faked self-deprecation, we quickly twigged that she is strong and self determined. None of the “I’ll put myself down first” or all men are shits malarkey. Her show The Invisible Woman is witty, warm and polished. A very enjoyable evening. Simone Grant
