phil zimmerman

PHIL ZIMMERMAN is an actor, singer/songwriter, stand-up comedian, writer, peace activist and comedy club promoter.

He is perhaps best known for his legendary television appearances on Never Mind the Buzzcocks which earned him cult status.

His memorable performance as Creepy No5 had Bill Bailey comparing him to a character from the film Wrong Turn, and flummoxed presenter Simon Amstell who for once was upstaged as Phil stole the show without moving a muscle.

Phil has been in several bands. His latest project is The Inside Outs, a song-writing collaboration with Nev Hawkins which also forms part of Phil Zimmerman’s Freedom Flower Project, the working title of an ambitious film and recording project combining comedy, rock music and live performance.

In 2012 he made his feature film debut as a 15th century axe murdering chicken farmer, in The Scopia Effect, a science fiction horror story, and followed this with appearances in Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables, (2013) Dracula Untold (2014) South of the River (2017), and Landing Lake (2017) before recently landing a major role in Tim Burton’s Dumbo, alongside Danny Devito, Colin Farrell, Eva Green and Michael Keaton.

Phil began doing stand-up in 1999 and made an immediate impact in dark basements and cupboards with his off-the-wall, physical character act ‘Pigeonman’ A combination of stand-up, mime and clowning, nothing quite like it had ever been seen on the circuit.

Since 2007 he has been promoter and resident comic at the No5 Club at the Dayton Court in Ealing and Faversham, kent, has added musical comedy and activism to his repertoire while working with some of the biggest names in comedy, including Harry Hill, Omid Djalili, Lee Mack, Stewart Lee, Henning Wehn and Reginald D Hunter.

Phil has been in several bands including The Unknown, which magnificently lived up to it’s name. His latest project is The Inside Outs, a song-writing collaboration with Nev Hawkins which also forms part of Phil Zimmerman’s Freedom Flower Project, the working title of an ambitious film and recording project combining comedy, rock music and live performance.
