'Hilarious'  - Three weeks

Richard Coughlan is your typical balls out, no frills comedian. His act has no agenda and is not designed to be anything other than straight forward stand up humour. He has the ability to be crude, intelligent, non-pc, original and traditional and never loses sight of his goal to please the audience. There are no bounds or subjects which are considered sacred, he attacks religion, society, modern culture and more importantly his girlfriend. His high energy and enthusiasm are the foundations of his act and regardless of his subject he always manages to assess his subject matter with a cynical optimism.

Richard began his career in 2001 and has blossomed immensley since, becoming winner of 14 different comedy competitions and a regular at The Comedy Store, The Cafe, The stand and Banana Cabaret. He has also had success as an actor and a writer for screen and stage.

Richard performed at the Edinburgh festival for the first time in 2006. He managed an astonishing 40 gigs in 21 days and earned rave reviews like this one from three weeks magazine...

"Richard Coughlan was truly a pleasure to watch. He bounces off the audience with amazing ease, making hilarious on-the-spot observations for everyone - although he's such a pleasant man that you never feel uncomfortable. The show is just 30 minutes long and yet the show has it's own personality and feels like a full length show in it's own right. Perhaps a longer set would give more time to see his comedy style itself, rather than the frantic, if enjoyable, opening sequences. Definitely one of those shows that leaves you shouting for more - despite the small audience numbers, Coughlan manages to squeeze huge laughs from his crowd" - - Three Weeks
