Kayla Kavanagh is a solo artist
with a twist. The 29 year old Irish singer/songwriter performs live with an array of
instruments, wires and technology, taking the audience on a journey from simple acoustic
music to full technology-led electronica. The music graduate recently qualified with an MA
in Digital Performance, and is now recording her debut album, fusing her traditional roots
with live music technology.
Renowned for her outdoor gigs from her VW
Kampervan, Kayla's unique musical abilities allow her to become a 'one woman band'. This
summer Kayla will be touring the UK both in the Kampervan and live on stage in the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Equally at home on acoustic guitar or with a stage full of
technology, Her live performances feature numerous instruments, including keyboard,
electric violin, guitar, flute, hammered dulcimer, delay/looping pedals and vocoder.
Kayla is has just recorded her debut solo
album "Stranger than Fiction" with Engineer/Producer Nigel Pease, and will be on
tour this summer throughout the UK with her hour-long stage performance.
Kayla is also an established composer, writing
for theatre, film and ensembles. In 2007 her orchestral composition 7/4 a secret was
selected for workshop and performance at the RMA Postgraduate Conference. She has recently
headlined such high profile events as the 2007 Manchester Irish Festival and will be
performing at numerous festivals this summer to launch the new album.
One musician. One hour. One stage.
One not to miss. |
