   Laughing Horse first
managed the Meadow Bar in 2006. Prior to this the venue had been used for numerous single
shows over previous Fringes. Situated on Buccleuch Street, a busy road in the Southside
area of Edinburgh, this venue is located in the heart of the area of Edinburgh most
associated with the Fringe, on a main street two minutes walk from the Spiegel Tent, and
only a little further from the Bristo Square venues of The Gilded Balloon, Pleasance Dome
and Udderbelly. The main bar is a comfortable, modern bar, situated
on the ground floor of the venue, which serves food, including main meals and snacks,
along with a full range of beers, wines and spirits.There is also free wifi available, and
computers available free of use to performers. Late at night the Meadow bar is the
meeting and drinking point for a lot off free show performers, and it has turned into an
alternative drinking location for many Fringe and industry types who want to escape from
the performers bars in the large venues.
The Performance space is located in the First
Floor bar, up a single staircase. It is suited, and aimed at stand-up comedy performance,
however it is possible for small-scale theatre or drama in the afternoon slots. Slots are
available from lunchtime to 3am.
Performance
Space: Upstairs Bar
Stage - 6ft x 3ft, raised to 4
inches. No Wing space, however exit and entry is possible from venue entrance/exit
Seating - Capacity is 60, 55 seated, arranged on three sides of the
stage
Lighting - 3xFixed Spotlights to Flood light the stage. Additional
Lighting can be supplied by companies and fixed as required.
Sound - The room is supplied with an 8 channel mixer (4xXLR,
4xJack, 2xStereo Jack and USB Inputs), plus 2xCD players, 2xMicrophones and 2xmic stands.
Any additional sound equipment can be supplied by performing companies and stored at the
venue.
Audio Visual - No AV equipment is available, but the room can be
used with screens and projectors supplied by the performance group.
Storage - There is ample storage at the venue for props and
equipment, securely stored in the cellar (shared with other groups) or in the performance
area in an unlocked bar area.
Bar - There is no open bar in the room
