The Hive is a now in it's second year as a
free Fringe venue for the Laughing Horse, and in 2009 gave us a fantastic addition to our
venues, with two superb stages - and in 2010 we're continuing with an even better programme
here! The venue located right in the heart of town on Niddry street, in the underground vaults
beneath North Bridge, just seconds from the Royal Mile and Cowgate, minutes from the Fringe
Office!
With two large rooms featuring Fringe shows
throughout the day, and a nightclub taking over from 10.30pm the Hive is set to be a lively
addition to the Free Festival, with a fantastic set-up for big shows, especially theatre and
comedy. The two performance spaces are located around the main bar, which serves a slection of
drinks throughout the day. Do keep an eye out for the resident ghost!
The Hive is a popular late night haunt throughout the
year, known for its generous promotions and varied music policy - and during the festival this
is no exception, with the nightclub running after the shows finish from 9.45pm to 5am every
night - any given night you can be treated to pop and chart, indie and electro, rock and metal
or drum and bass. As a club it holds up to 650 people and there there is often a combo of live
music and club nights in these underground vaults.
