  The City
Cafe has been a Free Festival venue since 2009, and has been completely refurbished in the
last year. The City Cafe is not an unfamiliar venue from many previous Fringes, with
various promoters running it in the past and it is also a popular cafe/bar for Fringe
performers because of it's proximity to the Royal Mile and it's inexpensive food and
drink. In it's new incarnation as a family friendly diner upstairs, and venue downstairs
the venue is likely to be even more popular than ever in 2011.Located on Blair Street, the City Cafe is just two minutes from the
Fringe office and located between the High Street and the Royal mile,  making it a venue that is right in the middle of
things, with people passing on their way to the Royal Mile, The Tron, Cowgate, the
Pleasance, Underbelly or the numerous other bars, restaurants and venues located on Blair
Street itself. This is a venue that is easy to get audiences in for free shows given it's
proximity to the Royal mile and Hunter Square for flyering!
The venue is ideal for all types of performance, with a
single basement room, with a low ceiling ideal for stand-up shows and any show that suits
an intimate feeling space. The spaces are available all day from Midday until 2am.
 Performance Space: City 2
Stage - 3m x 2m raised stage area, larger area possible on flat
floor. No proper backstage area (there is a very small area behind sound booth that could
be used for changing). Low flat ceiling.
Seating - Capacity
is 80 fully seated in rows, plus capacity for 20 people to stand at the back and sides of
the room.
Lighting - Basic stage flood lighting,
additional lighting can be added.
Sound - The room is supplied with an 6
channel mixer ( XLR, Jack, Phono Inputs). The room has 2xCD Players, 2xMicrophones, and
2xmic stand. Additional Sound equipment can easily be added to the sound booth.
Audio Visual - No AV equipment is available,
but the room is ideally set-up for use with screens and projectors supplied by the
performance group.
Storage - There is a small storage area
at the venue for props and equipment
Bar - There bar
in the room will not be open. The
