 This course is lead by Kevin McCarron and Jay Sodagar
and offers practical tips and advice for compering work, information and teaching on
skills including structuring a comedy show, improvisation, dealing with hecklers, dealing with
performers, working a room, stagecraft and technical skills. Students will get the chance to
practise the unique skills of a compere, with a number of lively interactive sessions, and
will be invited to compere half of a show full of new comedians as their graduation show.
This course is aimed at comedians who wish to start compering
shows with 12 months or more experience, or performers who have completed one of our beginners
courses.
The course follows similar subject areas to our two-day stand-up
courses, with an emphasis on compering skills, improvisation and running and structuring a
comedy show.
