Short Skirts is made up of three female Australian comics, who met in Melbourne,
Australia.
Halley Metcalfe has performed regularly at The
Melbourne International Comedy Festival. This
year, her 2009 show was entitled My Two Cents, a stand-up show about respecting and
laughing with the elderly. Easy-going and
effervescent, Melbourne newspaper The Age described Halley, "Metcalfe's greatest strength is her easy relationship
with the audience. She's instantly likeable."
Shannon
Woodford is a Raw Comedy 2009 Competition National Finalist, which was recorded for
national television. Shannon performs as
different characters. Her character as the
quirky, nervous, some may say loser girl, won her her place in the finals of
Raw Comedy at The Melbourne Town Hall. Shannon
is also a singer, and has previously performed at The Melbourne International Comedy
Festival in her cabaret show.
Marie
Connolly is new to comedy, although she is the oldest of the three comediennes. She dabbled in comedy many years ago in London
before running off to France to learn how to ski, before finally surrendering to her fear
of heights and speed. Marie is a Raw Comedy
2009 Competition State Finalist. Marie also
performed in The Melbourne 2009 International Comedy Festival as MC for a show entitled,
Bollocks Without Borders. Shes charming
and irresistible, even she says so herself.
The
girls have decided to join forces and come to Edinburgh as Short Skirts. They will showcase their very different styles and
skills in a 40 minute fun and friendly showcase where each comic will have 12 minutes
each, to have some fun, and make people laugh. |
