Family workshop suitable for children aged 3-7 years with parents or carers. We involve everyone: skip, clap and march together to traditional Scottish music, under the chandeliers. Enjoy discovering very simple (often simplified) dances that you might find at a ceilidh or Scottish country dance, celebrating the social aspects of dancing with a partner. CeilidhKids is all about fun for all generations. Hugely popular with local families, now it's your turn.

'More workshop than show, the accomplished organisers magically persuade a bunch of 3-7 year olds to march, jump and (sort of) dance their way through simplified versions of Scottish Ceilidh classics.'Gigglebeats - Comedy in the North
Edinburgh Fringe 2014: five shows for children

'The potential to exhaust an audience isn't something I'd have previously valued when deliberating over the Fringe programme but now that the rain has arrived and the parks are a little soggy it is definitely something I will look for again. Very strongly recommend.'(Fringe-going family 2014)

'CeilidhKids at the Fringe never disappoints! A fantastic event for all children under about 7 years with their families. A great event where everyone can join in, and is suitable for people of all abilities - even very little people (eg 2 year olds) should be able to enjoy this. Always run by brilliant and enthusiastic people. Sometimes gets busy, but that's because it's so brilliant, and I've never seen it so bad that there is nowhere to dance. Highly recommended.'
(Happy Fringe-going Mum Wendy, 2015)

Very basic but hugely fun Ceilidh dancing for all the family. Not strictly theatre, but a fabulous way to start the day and burn off energy for three to seven year-olds (and carers!) before sitting in dark room watching something more cerebral. Traditional music – but clever adaptations of the basic dances.
(2018 All Edinburgh Theatre.com: Reviews news and previews edited by Thom Dibdin)

Great fun.... and better exercise than any gym! Had to head off in the middle of a dance to take my toddler to the toilet and then come back.... Caroline didn't bat an eyelid! (Cath Coutts Audience review 7/8/18)

Want to impress your pals? Here are five Fringe shows that will actually teach you something new
Living in Edinburgh means that you’ll need to know your Dashing White Sergeant from your Virginia Reel, so you might as well start your kids education early with a free family ceilidh workshop this Fringe.

CeilidhKids are hosting 45 minute workshops most mornings during the festival at Laughing Horse at The Counting House on West Nicolson Street in Newington.

Perfect for children aged 3-7 years with parents or carers but everyone can get involved, regardless of age or ability. If you've ever been the person that's had to stand awkwardly at the side of the dance floor during a wedding, this one's for you. Click Here
