A greatest hits show with a difference. Stephen is retelling some of his classic routines of the last ten years but with the benefit of hindsight and 20:20 vision. Retelling the routines from the point of view of the new improved 2019 Stephen Carlin. A wiser, more self aware Carlin. But who ever said self awareness was a good thing anyway?

Chosen as one of Stewart Lee’s “Ten Best Stand Up Comedians Ever”, Carlin has supported Stewart Lee, Stephen Merchant, Felix Dexter and most recently, Tom Stade on their national tours. Carlin has acquired a growing fan base and critical acclaim for his original, insightful material and accomplished delivery. This married with his exceptional turn of phrase and brilliantly opinionated broadsides make for memorable routines. All skilfully delivered in trademark deadpan Scottish brogue. His popularity is growing internationally with a international tour across South Africa and the Far East.

“Announcing the arrival of a new comedy original” Herald ★★★★★

“Laconic laced with Red Bull, material so thoughtful you would put your house on (him) reinventing the knock knock joke” Herald

“One of the most distinctive, and funniest, comedians in Britain” - Chortle ★★★★

“If this man isn’t a household name in five years time, the world is even more lacking in justice than we could have feared” - Scotsman

“A cult favourite among fans at the sharper end of stand-up” - Guardian

News and Reviews for this Show

August 23, 2019  One4Review
Stephen Carlin has a wide range of topics and certainly doesn’t shy away from controversial ones – hard drugs, suicide, being called ‘gay’ – as well as some more mundane, from family relationships, small town life, and driving, to World War 2.

It’s a sideways take on some really interesting, diverse topics. Carlin can sometimes sound slightly aggressive on the darker topics to begin with, but it’s clear that the premise of the show, being able to talk about anything, is met, as he does just that.

In less experienced hands, some of these topics could be extremely offensive, and there is a risk they could be triggering, but they’re handled really well, with enough self deprecating humour to smooth out the darker side, and plenty of laugh out loud moments. Click Here

August 22, 2019  The Wee Review
Scottish born Stephen Carlin was once referred to by Stewart Lee as one of the world’s best ever comedians. In his latest show Post Rational Carlin is looking back at old material through a new, wiser pair of eyes. This means that Carlin sticks to material that feels notably dated and recycled, but makes up for it with the skilful delivery that he has become known for throughout his career.
