This Tour de Farce of comic mayhem, satire, and bathos chronicles the exploits of an American in Central and Eastern Europe when humanity first awoke from the deep freeze of Communism.

Things like this do not happen every day. So at nearly forty years of age, I joined the fray, joyfully abandoning what remained of my uninspiring career in the corporate world to become “Our Man in Warsaw” for an American NGO.

The Transition, as we called it, was a magical time when everyday life was an ongoing satire of the human condition. Block-headed Commie idiocy is hilarious, provided you are no longer living under it. Even more astounding was the patronizing and often equally block-headed idiocy of the NGO and expat communities.

It was great fun while it lasted.

When that assignment ended, I chose to remain an expat and make my way through life by whatever means were at hand. This personal transition propelled me to become a short-story writer, poet, spoken word performer, stand-up comedian, and participant in the 2018 Edinburgh Free Festival.

The Transition from Communism has now passed into history, but this show remains to toil in service to the Greater Truth of the human condition.

At least that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
