UP COMEDY WORKSHOP
Laughing Horse Comedy
and Comedy Point offer a series of highly
rated comedy courses to learn or improve stand-up
comedy performance - aimed at all people looking to
start-up or gain further experience in stand-up
comedy, and also for businesses to use stand-up
comedy as part of their employee development.
We offer a unique intensive two
day course, held over the weekends in
London or Brighton, and also midweek
during the Edinburgh Fringe - offering
newcomers the chance to learn the basics, and get up
on strange and perform for a first or early gig.
Ideal for the comedy newcomer as the course is good
value for those not wanting to commit the time or
money to a longer course, to see if stand-up comedy
is for you.
We also offer our a longer,
course aimed at comics who are stepping up to
longer sets and developing their material further.
We also offer
sessions for newcomers and comedians, as well as
from professional comedians.
All of our courses have been
running for several years now, many of our graduates
progressing to become full-time stand-ups,
competition finalists and be signed by agents -
Imran Yusuf completed one of our courses and is
now a Edinburgh Award Nominee with a national tour
and TV appearances under his belt; Nat Luurtsema,
only a year after her beginners course was signed by
Avalon, the UK's biggest stand-up agency and is now
performing stand-up full time - and there are many
All of our courses (except the
advanced comedy course) are suitable for complete
novices, along with new stand-ups wishing to hone
their skills. Over the last few years a number of
presenters and actors have also taken these courses,
and found them useful for increasing their range of
performance skills, and helping with stage-manner
and performance skills.
Each course offers time with a
tutor, practice sessions and the opportunity of
taking part in a series of open spots either across
the Laughing Horse's London Comedy clubs, or at the
Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The courses are led by
experienced comedy teachers Jay Sodagar
(Comedian, and Comedy School Comedy Tutor), Lewis
Bryan (Comedian, Compere and Comedy Tutor),
Kevin McCarron (Comedian, Compere, Comedy
promoter and University or Surrey and comedy
Tutor/Lecturer), Jojo Sutherland (Comedy Tutor, actress and
comedian) and Rick Kiesewetter (comedian and
comedy trainer) - for
more information in the tutors, click here.
All of our courses can be
packaged to be run at other comedy venues or
locations, and if you have a comedy venue or
festival that would benefit from comedy courses,
