This competition is a comedians chance to follow in the footsteps of many top name comedians, who cut their comedy teeth in this competition and where discovered by performing in it. We've been finding the best in new UK comedy since 2001 - Greg Davies won the competition on his fourth ever gig, Russell Kane won it in the first six months when he was starting out, and the list of previous winners and finalists includes these, Jack Whitehall, Rhod Gilbert, Daniel Rigby, Nina Conti, Imran Yusuf, Marek Larwood, Steve Hall, Matt Kirshen, Carl Donnelley and many, many more.

In 2013 we are supported by WeGotTickets, and this means that our prize fund has grown this year - with total prizes this year worth £4,000 - and this includes a winners cheque for £2,000, plus paid work, and a lot of exposure in the comedy industry.

Heats ran around the country from the start of November until the end of January, followed by the quarter and semi-finals over March, April and early May.

The the grand final this year will again be held at Highlight in Camden, on Sunday May 26th 2013 - where the top acts are judged by a panel of industry experts, in front of an audience that also sees a big chunk of the comedy industry in attendance. The final in 2013 will be compered my Imran Yusuf.
