Jay SodagarJay Sodagar

Jay Sodagar is a leading UK comedian, who has been performing in the UK since 1998, and can be seen regularly at Jongleurs and Highlight comedy clubs across the country, as well as at numerous other venues including the Comedy Store, Comedy Cafe and many others.

Since 2004 Jay has taught comedy at the Hastings adult education Forum, leading students of all standards to becoming successful stand-up comedians with a programme similar to that of the About Comedy Courses, and is one of the most established tutors on the Laughing Horse Courses, teaching them since 2006, and working with students of all skill levels to improve their stand-up performance.

Jay has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in his own shows annually since 2003, and knows the comedy circuit at all levels.

Jojo Sutherland

Jojo Sutherland runs our Edinburgh courses, and is one of Scotland's leading female comedian. A charismatic performer Jojo performs in all of the major comedy clubs across the UK, and she is also a contributor to several newspapers, a radio presenter, and an actress that works in theatre and film.

She has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2000, with her own theatre company and solo stand-up shows, and she now also runs her own comedy venue - The Shack.

Jojo had been teaching stand-up at all levels for a number of years now.

Kevin McCarronKevin McCarron

Kevin McCarron started performing in the UK in 1997,and the skills that make Kevin a natural performer have been developed over a number of years as a comedian, and also through lecturing at the University of Surrey, both in Stand-up and Performance, and as a Reader in English Literature.

Since 2001 Kevin has taught stand-up comedy at the University of Surrey, and he has also taught a course entitled "The History, Theory and Performance of Stand-Up comedy". In 2002 he was invited to offer advice to new comedians which was dramatised in a radio programme called `Starting in Stand-Up’, produced by Felix Gill and Rajan Malhotra (Montreal Solutions Ltd), and broadcast on radio stations in Great Britain and Canada. It was also commercially released as a compact disc.

In his role as Reader in English Literature, Dr. McCarron is the leading UK expert in William Golding, and has published books in nineteenth and twentieth-century American literature, addiction, popular music, adolescent writing and Dystopian and Utopian literature. Since 2001 he has performed a number of comedy routines after academic 'away days', after academic conferences, at fund-raising events and social events. Kevin was awarded a Teaching Fellowship in 2005. He has been nominated twice for a National Teaching Fellowship and in 2007 he received a UCU `Life Changers' award in the category of `Inspiring Students'.

Rick Kiesewetter

Rick Kiesewetter’s 2nd stand-up gig was the 2002 “So You Think You’re Funny” semi final and he’s been performing ever since. Rick is a 3 time winner of the notorious ‘Gong Show’ at London’s Comedy Store. Other notable competitions include; BBC Stand-up 2003 semi finalist, Metro London Comedy Festival Newcomer 2003 finalist, FHM 2004 finalist, Beat the Frog 2005 finalist and Last Comic Standing London finalist 2007.

Rick continues to gig around a range of venues in the UK. Everything from theatre gigs to small pubs. He has also performed in the US. He can be seen regularly at gigs for both the Laughing Horse and 99 Club.

Rick has combined his experience as an award-winning advertising copywriter and stand-up to run workshops for the MA course at Bucks New University, teaching the value of stand-up skills in advertising. He’s also developed his stand-up tutoring skills at Roehampton University, lectured in advertising at Coventry University and regularly gives lectures for British Design and Art Direction.
