Laughing Horse Comedy has many years of
experience in running Live Comedy Venues. Our original venue opened in 1998 (in Kingston, called
"Peppermint Thursdays"), and this was followed by the first "Laughing
Horse", at the "Black Horse" in Richmond. Over the years we have promoted
comedy and supplied performers for over 250 venues and companies.
We are currently running
many regular, friendly, Stand-up Comedy venues, at various locations around the UK, and also in
the South of France and Monaco - with several new venues scheduled to open during 2008. Each week
our venues offer top value comedy, and a friendly atmosphere that is enjoyed by audiences, and
acts alike, and we are fast being recognised as one of the friendliest and funniest comedy clubs
around. Many of the leading acts of today have performed some of their first gigs at our clubs,
including the likes Daniel Kitson, Jimmy Carr and many more besides.
Our nights feature a mixture of top
professional comics, and the best up and coming talent on the comedy circuit - as well as open
spots and newer acts. We are the only comedy promoter to book acts of all levels, from leading
comedians in sell-out shows in theatres, Art Centres, Night Clubs, right through to open mic
comics doing their first gigs in small rooms above pubs. We have also hosted nights for the likes
of Channel Four, The BBC, Paramount Comedy, Funny Women and provide comedians and shows for
corporate entertainment.
We promote the UK's largest search for new comedy talent each year, 'The
Laughing Horse New Act of the Year', where we find new talent to bring to the clubs
throughout the year, leading comics such as Rhod Gilbert, Russell Kane, all of 'We are Klang':
Marek Larwood, Greg Davies & Steve Hall, Steve Williams, Matt Blaize, Nina Conti and many
more.
We run "The Free Festival" - a unique and
groundbreaking series of venues at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, giving performers professionally
managed venues for free, along with free shows from top quality comedians, theatre shows and
musicians. In 2007 we were the largest comedy promoter at the Fringe with 112 comedy shows, and at
our venues had over 2,500 performances of 139 different shows.
We also run comedy courses in London and Edinburgh,
helping people to take their first steps on the comedy ladder, and provide comedy resources for
Universities, teaching and disability training.
Laughing Horse Comedy is run by Alex Petty and Kevin McCarron, who have been business
partners in the comedy clubs since 1998, and we employ a number of show-runners and comedians on a
regular basis to run our shows, events and festivals.
